Product Information
Fraternal twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s second Game Boy Color title continues the puzzle-oriented action introduced in 1999’s The New Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, which itself is part of a successful book series starring the twins as detectives. Mary-Kate and Ashley are joined by puzzle-solving pooch, Clue, as they prepare to take on a series of five new cases. The game is played from a side-view perspective with levels consisting of platforms, ladders, switches, and obstacles to avoid. The goal in each of the five cases is to find the ten puzzle pieces needed to solve the mystery. Each case consists of 11 levels, with the final stage being a timed race to retrieve the item depicted in the finished puzzle.
Players can switch between all three characters at any time during a level to take advantage of their special abilities. Mary-Kate, for example, jumps the highest and can be used as a springboard for Ashley or Clue to reach certain platforms. Ashley is the only character able to flip switches and has the strength to pick up, carry, and throw Clue. Neither girl can swim, however, which is where Clue comes in handy. The dog can transport the twins across areas of water, and he can also be used as a projectile to eliminate patrolling enemies, including spiders, cats, mummies, ghosts, and more. Progress during the five mysteries can be resumed via passwords provided at the end of each case.
